Video Game Club (VGC) Constitution
Preamble: This Club has been formed to create a community of video game players. Are Aims are: To encourage interaction between people by playing video games together, to organize game-related events around campus, and to give video game players a voice in the administrative policies at Florida Gulf Coast University.
Article I: We are the Video Game Club which will be called VGC.
Article II: This club requires no membership dues to join. No size limitation. Anyone is welcome to join the club but only 10% of the total members can be non-FGCU Students. Only FGCU students have the power to vote. This club does not discriminate.
A. FGCU has established a non-discrimination policy which is applied without regard to a person’s race, color, gender, religion, creed, national origin, disability, marital status, Vietnam or disabled Veteran Status, or age. All action will support equal opportunity and will move the university toward achieving its inclusionary objectives.
Article III: The members of the club will elect officers. Elections of Officers will be held in at the first meeting of the Fall semester.
A. In Order to be an officer the person must have at least a 2.5 G.P.A, if the person has no transcript he or she can still become an officer. But when they do receive a G.P.A it must be higher than 2.5 or they will be forced to give up their office.
B. An Officer will remain in office until one of the fallowing events happens:
1. The Officer decides to step down.
2. 75% of the members feel a new officer should be elected.
3. The officer no longer attends Florida Gulf Coast University.
4. The Officer No longer meets the requirements to be an officer.
C. If there is a vacancy in office then an election will be held to elect a new officer.
D. If an officer has not attended a meeting in a month then it is up to the other officers to decide whether an election for a replacement should take place.
E. In co-ordinance with the Registered Student Organization Manual, Video Game Club will have its officer elections the third to last meeting of the spring semester. The current acting officers will remain in power until the spring semester ends but they will train the new officers gradually in their position. They will hand over control of their position immediately following the last meeting of the spring semester. Article 3 Section E will officially nullify the phrase “elections of officers will be held in at the first meeting of the fall semester.” In the beginning of article three.
Article IV: The Executive Committee will be made up of five people. The Officers will fill four positions. The officers will decide the one other member. The provisions for terms in office are the same as the officer’s terms in office, except the officers will elect the executive officer.
Article V: Regular meetings will be held on the first Tuesday of each month. A new meeting date will be decide each semester. Special Meetings may can be called by any members as long as 50% of the members plus one is present and at meeting plus at least two officers then it will be considered an official meeting.
Article VI: The Club will handle the finances given to the club responsibly. The treasurer is in charge of keeping track of the funds. And spending of the funds is the responsibility of the executive committee. In order to make any purchases 4 members of the committee must agree with the purchase. All items purchased by the club must be used for the good of the club and not the personal gain of an individual.
Article VII: In Order to amend the constitution at least 4 members of the executive committee must agree to it as well as 75% of the total members.
Article VIII: The Executive committee will decide the faculty advisor.
Article VIV: If a member hasn’t attended a meeting in over 2 months then he/she may be removed from the roster.
Article X: Nullifies and replaces Article V. The first regular meeting will be held on the second or third week into the beginning of each new semester, pending that rooms are available from campus reservations. The current acting officers will determine when meeting are held. If the club is to have special events such gaming tournaments, the current acting officers will determine when those special event meetings will be held.
Article XI: All Video Game Club members will be responsible for VGC equipment. Any damages to disks, systems, and any other club property must be reported. Failure to do so will result in expulsion from Video Game Club. Video Game Club will operate off a “you break it you bought it” policy. Failure to fix or replace any VGC equipment by the member who broke it will result in expulsion from the club. The office of Registered Student Organizations will hold members of VGC who break club property accountable for damages. They will have the right to pursue legal action against club members who fail to replace or repair club equipment. All Club property must be turned back in by the end of the meeting by those who checked it out. RSO and VGC officers will deter mine if the person is accountable for damages.
Article XII: Article twelve will nullify Article IV. The executive committee will be made up of only the four officers. Article twelve will effectively create the senior member committee. The senior member committee will be made up of three club members. These three will be selected by the current officers at the beginning of every spring semester. The only power this committee holds is to determine a vote in which the executive committee cannot determine. In the event that the executive committee cannot agree upon those who they select as senior members then the senior member committee will be determined by an election at the second meeting of the spring semester.
Article XIII: By attending a Video Game Club meeting or event you herby agree to all the rules and regulations set forth in the VGC constitution.
